Steps to Block a YouTube Channel

Technically, as a viewer, you cannot entirely block a YouTube channel (although we'll refer to it as "blocking" in this guide). Instead, you can prevent it from appearing in your recommendations and feed. However, this action doesn't prevent you from encountering the channel in other places, such as search results or on external websites.

Blocking a YouTube channel operates at an account level to enhance your YouTube recommendations. This implies that if you block a channel on your computer, it will be automatically blocked on your mobile device.

Blocking a channel is a private action, and no one, including the channel owner, will be aware that you've blocked it. There are no notifications sent, and it doesn't reflect in their statistics. Additionally, it doesn't appear anywhere on your channel, if you have one

To block a YouTube channel, follow the steps provided below. These instructions are applicable for both the YouTube website and the YouTube mobile app.

• Make sure you're logged into your YouTube account.
• While on the YouTube homepage (this won't work from another page), locate a video from the channel you wish to block.
• On desktop, hover over the video details. On mobile, this step is not necessary.
• Click on the three vertical dots.
• Choose "Don't recommend channel."
• If you've made an error, you can select "Undo."

How to Unblock a YouTube Channel

Regrettably, unless you opt to Undo immediately after blocking a channel, there is no option to individually unblock or view a list of blocked channels. Instead, you need to clear your recommendation history, which will unblock all channels.

To undo the blocking of all channels, follow the steps below. Be aware that this action may lead to YouTube recommending videos from channels you had previously blocked, so proceed with caution.

• Go to your My Google Activity page.
• Select "Other activity" from the left menu.
• Under YouTube 'Not interested' feedback, click on Delete.
• Confirm the deletion by clicking Delete again.
